Privacy Policy

Glyphconnect is a private messenger. It was designed so that the people who make it can learn as little about you as possible. This page explains exactly what happens to your data.

The short version

• We do not have accounts, phone numbers, emails or passwords.
• We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking, and the app contains no third-party tracking code.
• Your messages are encrypted on your phone before they leave it. Nobody in between, including the relay server, can read them.
• Everything you create (contacts, messages, languages) is stored only on your phone, encrypted.

What stays on your phone

• Your identity keys. They are generated on your phone and stored in the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore. They are never uploaded and cannot be recovered if you lose the phone.
• Contacts, messages and glyph languages. Stored in an encrypted file on your phone. The encryption key is held in the Keychain / Keystore.
• Settings, such as your relay address and whether App Lock is on.

Deleting the app, or choosing "Erase everything" in the app, removes all of this.

What leaves your phone

• Encrypted messages are sent to a relay server so they can reach a friend who is offline. The relay sees an anonymous mailbox address (derived from a public key), the approximate size of each message, when it arrived, and your IP address while you are connected. It cannot read the message or see who sent it. Undelivered messages are deleted after at most 14 days, or as soon as they are delivered.
• Push notifications (only if you turn them on). Your phone's push token is stored on the relay, and Apple's push service delivers an alert that only says "You have a new message" with a count. The alert never contains message text, names or any other content: the relay cannot read your messages. Apple learns that your phone received a notification from Glyphconnect, and when, but not what the message said. You can turn alerts off at any time in You → Notifications, which removes your token from the relay. Erasing everything also removes it.
• Contact code. When you show your QR code, you share your display name, your public keys and your relay address with whoever scans it.

The relay can be run by anyone. If you use a relay run by someone else, that person can see the technical data listed above. You can change the relay at any time.

Who is behind Glyphconnect

Glyphconnect is published by Empatixtech SIA (https://empatixtech.com), which also provides support. This policy covers the Glyphconnect app. The Empatix website has its own privacy policy at https://empatixtech.com/privacy-policy/.

Camera, biometrics and permissions

• Camera is used only to scan a QR code. Images are not stored or sent.
• Face ID / fingerprint is used only to unlock the app if you turn on App Lock. The app never receives your biometric data.
• The app does not request your location, contacts, photos or microphone. It asks for notification permission only when you turn on alerts.

Children

Glyphconnect is not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and rights

Because we do not hold your personal data, there is nothing for us to export or delete on our side. You control your data on your phone: you can delete individual messages, chats and contacts, or erase everything. Messages already delivered to other people stay on their phones.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version ships with an app update and the date above changes.
